Fall Fashion Trends for Plus-size Bodies

Hi Friends,

Fall is here! If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that fall is my favourite season of the year. Bring on all the cozy vibes because I’m here for it. Fall fashion is so important because this is when we select our staple pieces which sometimes carry us through to those long dark winter days. In this post, I’m looking at a few trending pieces this season and how they translate to full-figure/ plus-sized bodies like mine.

The Skirt

First up is the pleated skirt. I’ve noticed that there is a reintroduction of the short pleated skirt. Some call it the school girl skirt or a tennis skirt.

Nordstrom’s Pleated Skirt

If you aren’t comfortable with the length there is also a fuller version of these skirts with a tighter pleat. They are everywhere, to be honest, and you’d be able to find these wherever you purchase your clothing.

The Tailored Trousers

Tailored trousers are also making a comeback. Gen Z has constantly made fun of us millennials regarding our skinny or tapered jeans and pants. So much so, the trousers have made a full comeback. To achieve this look you can purchase new tailored pants but I find thrifting is the best way to go for this trend. You are able to get these trousers in so many variations and fabric styles which is not common with the trend. It’s sort of like being trendy but following your own rules.

Suiting

This is not really a new fall trend, Frankly, It has carried over from the summer. The suiting trend is synonymous with fall. This is a great opportunity to mix and match staple pieces with a statement suit. Pulling on the colours and details in the suiting of your choice to maximize wear. Because let’s be honest a great suit is not inexpensive.

Plaid Suiting

We can’t talk trends without accessories, boots are back and they are as bold as ever. There is a really interesting take on modernizing the cowboy boot which is somewhat a carry-over from last fall. This isn’t my style but it’s a great heel size and can be worn with a multitude of outfits. This is also very reminiscent of ’90s fashion.

If cowboy boots are not your style either, a clean tapered boot or an ankle boot is always in fashion.

These are the trends, I’ve been noticing for my fellow plus-size queens. Did I miss anything? What are some trends you are loving for Fall/Winter 2023? Let me know in the comments.

xo,

Natoya.
