Things to Do in Gastown Vancouver: A Local Night Out

If you are looking for things to do in Gastown at night, I recently found a route that covers it all, and every stop was within a short walk of the next. A few of us got together for a girls night out, and we moved from a sound bath to a tasting menu dinner to live music at a speakeasy without getting in a car, checking a map, or rushing to a reservation across town.

Starting with a sound bath at Flowstate

We kicked things off at Flowstate, a hair studio that also hosts experiences like sound baths. We spent the first part of the night lying back and letting the sound wash over us, and we also had our energy read, which was such a gentle and unexpected way to begin a night out. By the time we stepped back onto the street, everyone was relaxed and chatty, and honestly ready for dinner.

Dinner with a DJ spinning vinyl at Amber

Dinner was at Amber Listening Lounge, right in the heart of Gastown, and we were treated to the full tasting menu. We started with oysters, and somewhere along the way came a bone marrow dish that I am still thinking about.

I especially loved the Duck Breast and Beef Tartar. What made the room feel so special was the music, because a DJ was playing vinyl records the whole time we ate.

It gave the space an easy, cozy listening vibe where you could actually hear the person across from you and still feel wrapped up in the sound. If you are looking for a dinner spot in Gastown that feels relaxed but still special, this is the kind of place that makes you want to stay for another round.

Ending the night at Guilt & Co.

After dinner we walked over to Guilt & Co. to finish the evening, and I loved that the walk was part of the fun. Gastown after dark is so pretty, with the old brick buildings and the glow of the streetlights, and it feels like every block has a story to tell.

Guilt & Co. has a true speakeasy feel, dim and moody and made for lingering, and there was live music playing the night we went. It was a completely different energy from our earlier stops, and it was the perfect place to sit back, keep talking, and let the night wind down.

Why I would send you to Gastown for a whole weekend

Looking back, what stays with me is how much we fit into one evening without ever leaving the neighbourhood. We went from a sound bath to a beautiful dinner to a late night drink with live music, all on foot, and it felt like a real Vancouver experience, with the history of the old streets and the energy of what is happening in the city right now sitting side by side.

Gastown deserves more than a quick visit to the steam clock, and if you are visiting Vancouver, I would honestly consider making it your home base. You can wake up, find a coffee, wander the shops and galleries, book a great dinner, and end your night somewhere you would never have found on your own, all within a few blocks.

If you are looking for things to do in Gastown, or you want an idea for a girls night, a birthday, or a weekend in Vancouver with friends, I would say start here and see where the night takes you.
