This past week, I finally got the opportunity to attend the Abbotsford Tulip Festival. I’ve always wanted to visit but somehow always miss the festival by mere days. You have a very short window for full bloom at the Tulip Festival.
I was immediately in awe of the rows of tulips. So many gorgeous colours of reds, pinks, yellows and oranges! If you’ve never visited a tulip field or a flower field I strongly recommend it.
We went on a Monday but since it was a goregous day it was still a bit busy. I was really happy they had a U-PICK section if you wanted to take home a few of the gorgeous tulips. They’re $1.00 per stem. I didn’t actually buy any as I have a few pots of tulips on my patio. On the weekend there are food trucks, local vendors and artisans.
Before you go make sure you bring a pair of boots. After all it is a field, and some areas can be a bit muddy. Also make sure you plan ahead based on the weather there isn’t a lot of coverage from the elements.
Overall, It was a really great experience to finally visit the Tulip Festival. It’s a great back drop for some beautiful photographs as well. But personally, I feel as though it could be a larger event with a little more to do. I feel as though you come, see the tulips have a bite then head home. I wanted to stay longer and have something else to do you know?
Have you ever visited a flower field? Let me know in the comments.
