Happy New Year – Resolutions/Intentions -2018

Hello Lovelies,

Happy New Year! I’ve had a slow start to my new year and that’s totally OKAY! sometimes its necessary to take all the time you need to regroup, reassess and then produce. 2017 was a landmark year for me! So many amazing things began to happen and life just fell neatly into place. And of course, I reconnected with you guys! TOTAL WIN!

I thought it would be a great idea to share some of my ” resolutions with you. I’m not generally a resolution king of person but things year I decided to set some goals and work towards them.

1. Be Present

I find personally, i’m often very distracted by what needs to get done and thinking ahead constantly to stay on track of things that I completely forget to be present to just be in the moment and enjoy what’s happening around. Especially with little ones we must be mindful of this and remember to be PRESENT more often.

2. Read More Books.

I’ve been working on this for some time but i’m not doing so well. I feel with all the technology we often forget to just read a good book. I’m trying to get my son to read more and he challenged me and said

“mom, you don’t read books you just read your ipad or your phone.”

Which is so true so i’m making a conscious effort to read more physical books and we allot 20 – 30 minutes to read together each night. A first it’s a bit of a chore but honestly it becomes fun and it promotes healthy learning habits for the little ones if they see you reading as well.

3. Plan Far away Adventures

This is not difficult for us, Our life is one big wilderness adventure. But we need to go beyond the borders of our surrounding area and see more of what our province and country has to offer. I’ve always wanted to visit Prince Edward Island or even the Yukon. These may not be feasible this time around but definitely on the list of places to go.

4. Make a Vision Board

I’m a visual person. I need to see it to be able to work towards it. I’ve never made a vision board before. but this is something I’ve always wanted to do. I want to put my hopes and intentions down on a poster and watch them materialize.

5. CREATE and WRITE  EVERYDAY

Most of you  may or may not know this. But, I graduated  Art School in 2005 and have been doing some art here and there since then. In 2017 I took my art a little bit more seriously and landed a spot in a group show in NEW YORK CITY! that was a major high for me.  So I’ve been applying myself since then and trying to create more meaningful art. But sometimes, you know – LIFE.

I’ve also had my poetry published in a few publications and want to take writing so seriously and to a new level but again – LIFE.

I have dusted off my old sketch book and left it on my night stand. Every night before bed i will be filling the pages with a piece of writing or drawing  before going to sleep. This will help keep me present and in a constant state of creativity. I hope I can continue this all year.

Also, I’ll be doing a weekly feature for my art and photography of the week. would you guys be into that?

Those are my major resolutions/ intentions this year.

Of course i’ll continue to write my beauty, fashion and product review blogs and loop you guys into my life. I’m so thankful to have met so many of you in 2017 and can’t wait to share more with you in 2018.

Lots of Love,

Natoya

  6. Great goals Natoya! Being Present and Read More Books are goals I always have on my list every year – both seem to be constant struggles for me somehow but are things I really want to do.

That is so exciting about your art landing you in a group in New York – that’s huge! Congratulations!
