The Holidays are upon us so you know what that means!
HOLIDAY GIFT SETS!
This is literally my favourite time of year for so many reasons especially this!
Most if not all makeup brands are now releasing their holiday make up gift sets. So you are able to try a particular brand for a lower cost and more variety.
I’ve been meaning to try Hard Candy  For sometime but never really got around to it. Anyways, I found this cute little set at Walmart for $4.97 and decided to give it a try I had zero expectations and wanted to swatch this purely for the reasons of blogging.
The gift set came in two different colourings. a pink set for lighter skin tones and a deep red/taupe set for darker skin tones. I obviously, bought the one for the darker skin.
The Gift set included FIVE lip colours their Wet Ever, Velvet Mouse and Metallic Mousse lippies in a gorgeous tin. None of these had names which I found strange but maybe because they were in a gift set they didn’t bother with the names? I also went to the Hard Candy Website to find out more about these but Alas, there was no information.
I found each of these to be highly pigmented and had quite a bit of colour pay off and wearability. I’ve swatched them but since there are no names for these colours I didn’t include the names in the swatch photos.
Wet Ever is a glossy lip lacquer which goes on smoothly and gives your lips that wet, glossy look.
Velvet Mouse is a cross between a matte lip colour and a gloss. Gives you a little shine with heavy pigmentation. Perhaps my favourite.
Metallic Mousse is great for a holiday look. It’s a beautiful Metallic colour but not overwhelmingly so. Looks great with a  good lipliner.
On a first impressions basics, I’m quite impressed with the product and price point. Usually when things are so “cheap” the quality follows the same path. But, the quality of this this was great. I would say it was on par with many high end brands.
I will certainly repurchase Hard Candy products, I only wish they were more widely available and that the website reflected products offered in store.
