In case I didn’t make it clear a couple posts ago, I’m going to say it again! I’m totally obsessed with fall. I just cannot stop myself. I’m hopelessly in love with this season. Usually it would be rain central everyday in British Columbia, But we are having a record breaking fall season. And we are soaking up every bit of the sunshine, Can you blame us?
In today’s post,I will be highlighting one of my favourite fall accessory. The scarf, and not just any scarf but the blanket scarf! I love a great scarf for the fall winter months. My only issue is most of us tend to go with the same scarf. We buy from a handful of retailers and then we all end up with the same or a variation of the same clothing article.
But, I wanted to be different so I made my own scarf. And by making my own scarf I meant I went to Dressew (a local Vancouver fabric store) bought a meter of fabric and then made a scarf. For most of you who do no know, one of my first post on this blog ten years ago was a D.I.Y. post. I believe it was melt and pour soap. So we are not new to rigging up things we need.
I wanted a vibrant blanket scarf and this pattern spoke to me. It’s a light cotton so it’s ideal for the warm fall, and then bright reds and hints of green in the tartan help to transition the scarf into the Holiday season. I opted not to finish the edges to give it a rustic look.
Sweater – Zara
I wore a pink sweater I picked up sometime ago at ZARA.
Shoes and Jeans – Winners
I decided to pair my scarf with these laced up chunky heeled suede green shoes from Winners! The shoes were $11.00 yes you read that correctly! My jeans are also from Winners back in the spring. They are distressed with appliqué roses on either legs.
